“Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil!”This is a portion of the Lord’s prayer that we should pray daily. David prayed a prayer for protection in Psalms 141:4: Incline not my heart to any evil thing, to practice wicked works with men that work iniquity. Temptations to sin have not diminished since the time of David. The enemy of our souls is constantly barraging us with temptations of one kind or another. We must be aware of the fact that without the help of God we are in danger of falling. Let us pray with David for protection against our spiritual enemies. Shakespeare said: “It is one thing to be tempted, another thing to fall.”
